Personal Best Challenges for KS1
‘Personal Best Challenges in KS1’ in association with Sporting PB is an ideal way to measure improvement in PE over time. The challenges could be used to identify children requiring intervention or challenging further.
The six challenges are based on the requirements of the National Curriculum for Physical Education. You don’t need a lot of equipment to get started and the challenges can be adapted to introduce further levels of challenge.
The training is divided into two parts. The first provides information for teachers about the purpose of the challenges and how to deliver them effectively using the rules and teaching points provided.
The second part provides children with short demonstration videos about how to complete the challenges to the best of their ability. The videos could be used for a virtual PE lesson or to introduce or refine a specific skill. Progress can then be tracked against the key skills of the National Curriculum.
‘Personal Best Challenges in KS1’ can be used in conjunction with the ‘Personal Best Challenges in Lower Key Stage 2’ and ‘Personal Best Challenges in Upper Key Stage 2’ presentations to ensure the progression of skills throughout the school in Physical Education.
