An Introduction to SEND for NQTs
12% of pupils have SEN support in schools, with approximately 3% having an Education, Health and Care Plan (DfE July 2020). All teachers will teach pupils with SEND during their career.
This prerecorded course provides an overview of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) as an introduction or refresher. It will explore the statutory framework for meeting the needs of pupils with SEND through a step-by-step approach.
Participants will gain an understanding of the types of SEND, the whole school approach to improving outcomes through SEN support, ‘Top Tips’ for setting up an inclusive classroom, and working with parents and specialists.
The course is accompanied by a booklet containing summary information and signposting to further resources in one convenient document.
